NHRA community in mourning as highway accident claims Head Racing crewmember
The NHRA family is mourning the loss of Dylan Cromwell, a member of the Jim Head Racing team, who was fatally injured in a highway accident near Plainfield, Ind., Sunday morning.
According to local television station WISHTV, the accident occurred at 9:30 a.m. EST on Interstate 70 in Hendricks County. The rig was en route to Las Vegas for this weekend's Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil.
Preliminary investigation suggests that an eastbound semi lost control in a construction zone, jackknifing and crashing through the concrete barrier wall ran head on into the Head Inc., rig that Cromwell was driving.
Cromwell, 23, had been a valued member of Head’s Funny Car team since 2018.
The NHRA extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Cromwell and the Head team.
