The upcoming Dodge SRT Mile High Nationals presented by Pennzoil will feature a special appearance by the Earthflight jet dragster driven by Mark Stevens and the Volcano driven by Chuck Haynes.

The jets will make side-by-side exhibition runs to close out the show on Friday night following the conclusion of Top Fuel and Funny Car qualifying and will return for an encore performance on Saturday evening, also following nitro qualifying. The BandimereSpeedway event is one of the few Camping World NHRA Series events that features two rounds of nighttime qualifying.

Stevens’ dragster features a General Electric J-85 jet engine used in the F-5 Freedom fighter plane and the T-38 trainer. The team is backed by a host of sponsors including Lucas Oil Products, Protect the Harvest, Lucas Oil Racing TV, SRA Photo, Denver Electric Motors, Sanitary Custom Stainless, Air Hitch Technology and LumaMedia International.

Haynes’ Volvano dragster uses a Pratt and Whitney J-60 engine producing over 6,000 pounds of thrust, to achieve inhale low 5-second elapsed times and speeds exceeding 300 miles per hour. Haynes began his drag racing career with a ’66 Chevelle followed by a Camaro Funny Car and later a supercharged Pro Comp dragster. Haynes has toured extensively through Australia and also appeared at Jeddah Raceway in Saudi Arabia.

Both jet dragsters will be on display for fans to see during the course of the weekend.
