Hemi Under Glass, Little Red Fire Truck wheelstanders to perform in Pomona
The Hemi Under Glass and the Little Red Fire Truck wheelstanders of Mike Mantel will be performing at the upcoming Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com, July 30–Aug. 1 at historic Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
The Little Red Fire Truck is a Dodge Ram sponsored by Liquid Horsepower/LHP Fuel Additive that honors First Responders. It is powered by a mid-engined 392-cid supercharged Hemi and weighs in at nearly 4,000 pounds. The Hemi Under Glass Barracuda will be running an NHRA national event for the first time in 20 years.
Wheelstander legend “Wild Bill” Shrewsberry, the original driver of the Hemi Under Glass, will be appearing with Mantel as a special guest.
Mantel, who was born and raised in Southern California and now lives in Kingman, Ariz., owns and displays the original Dodge Little Red Wagon wheelstander, which is recognized as one of the most famous drag racing exhibition vehicle ever constructed.
