The official start of the Texas NHRA FallNationals Thursday at the historic Texas Motorplex got off to a roaring start with Sportsman action on track all day capped off with a mega-fan event at Railyard Park in Waxahachie. More than 40 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series drivers and riders spent time with fans and sponsors as part of the Stampede of Speed Pre-Stage Fan Fest. The Fan Fest was the main event of Day 7 of the Stampede of Speed and gave hundreds of fans the chance to meet and greet world champions, NHRA Rookie of the Year contenders, FallNationals previous winners, and soon-to-be inducted Texas Motorplex Legend Don “the Snake” Prudhomme.

“This is the largest collection of NHRA drivers and riders in one spot that anyone can remember,” said Billy Meyer, Texas Motorplex co-owner. “We have to thank all the drivers and riders as well as the Waxahachie Convention and Visitors Bureau and Ellis County. These are the events that make the Stampede of Speed one of a kind and a destination event. When people see and hear about how many drivers were here tonight, they won’t miss this event next year.”

In addition to the driver autograph session, live music filled the air, and when the event wrapped up, the sky was once again filled with fireworks. The brilliant aerial pyrotechnic displays are quickly becoming a signature feature of the Stampede of Speed.
