The NHRA South Central Division Moser Sportsman Shootout, originally scheduled for April, will take place Saturday, Sept. 19 in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series doubleheader weekend at Texas Motorplex.

The specialty event has a stacked field with Slate Cummings, Austin Williams, and Chase Huffman all returning from last year to race once again for a chance at the title.

Through a seasonlong points battle in 2019, the top two Moser Sportsman Shootout points earners in each of the seven classes in competition are slotted into the 16-car field while Chase Huffman and Val Harmon will complete the ladder as the Moser Shootout Wild Card entries.

The Moser Sportsman Shootout is unique in that racers from seven entirely different class structures: Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster, and Top Sportsman will be racing each other. Eliminations will be in a dial-in/breakout handicap format on an eighth-mile.

A $15,000 cash purse is up for grabs with up to $5,000 going to the winner, $2,000 to the runner-up, $1,000 to each of the semifinalists, $700 to the quarter-finalists and $400 to each of the remaining event qualifiers.
