Racers For Christ national-event ministry will switch to regional-based teams
The Racers For Christ Executive Committee and the RFC Board of Directors have made the decision to change its NHRA national event ministry leadership structure for efficiency. RFC will begin to utilize the existing team of Region Directors to represent RFC at events instead of one person traveling for the entirety of the season.
Joining the regional chaplains who serve the Sportsman ranks, the Region Directors will now work together, as an efficient team, to grow each region’s ministry and continue serving the needs of the racers, crew, and staff at all of the NHRA National Events.
This transition eliminates the position of National Event Series Director which for the last five-plus years fell under the stewardship of Craig Garland.
“Craig has been a faithful chaplain for almost two decades and has served us well,” said RFC Executive Director, Eddie Baugher. “We realize that change is never easy and no time is ever a good time to make these kinds of changes and lose someone as significant as Craig. Some faces will change, but the level of professionalism and ministry will remain high and consistent. We wish Craig and his wife, Beverly, the very best as they prepare for new ministry opportunities.
“Our desire is to keep the ministry growing and viable for the next 50 years. The 2020 season will be a challenging time for us, but please be aware our team is already working diligently to develop a plan to continue this season and prepare for the 2021 season, our 50th Anniversary year. Our desire is to keep the ministry growing and to expand the Kingdom of God for the next 50 years and beyond. Our goal is to stay strong and continue growing relationships with our community to meet the spiritual, emotional, and practical needs of everyone within the NHRA.
For almost 50 years, Racers For Christ has been dedicated to serving the spiritual and emotional support needs of the world of motorsports. Since 1982, NHRA has allowed RFC to provide chaplains for all of its national and divisional events. When NHRA is able to safely return to racing, RFC’s desire is to continue growing the ministry and serving the spiritual, emotional, and practical needs of everyone at those events.
