NHRA preseason testing Thursday recap: Defending champs go low, Robert Hight makes strong pass
The first pass of the day ended as the quickest. Steve Torrence ran a 3.689 to start Thursday at NHRA preseason testing and that stood as the quickest in Top Fuel. The 2018 Top Fuel champion concluded his testing with a series of quick runs, complemented by his father, Billy Torrence, who made the second-quickest pass of the day (3.731).
Another champ, J.R. Todd, made the low run of the day in Funny Car (3.930). Todd showed no signs of rust while running 305.22 mph, perhaps indicating the DHL Toyota Camry driver shut off early. He was followed in the run order by 2017 champ Robert Hight. Team owner John Force came in right behind him with a 3.942.
