Jeremy Ray earns the first No. 1 Pro Mod pole of career at Virginia NHRA Nationals
Jeremy Ray locked in the first No. 1 qualifying position of his career Saturday during the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by presented by J&A Service portion of the Virginia NHRA Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park. This weekend’s Pro Mod racing, presented by the Real Pro Mod Association, is the fifth of 12 events this season.
Ray’s 5.804-second pass at 248.11 mph from the second qualifying session on Friday in his J4 Racing LLC ‘63 Corvette held onto the top spot.
“I knew we could keep the No. 1 spot after today because we saw the weather was going to be much worse,” Ray said. “We sat out the last qualifying round to save parts for race day because we can really have a shot at this tomorrow and our team is really looking forward to it.”
Danny Rowe qualified second with a 5.809 pass at 251.34 and Khalid AlBalooshi remained in third with a run of 5.828 at 249.58 on Friday.
Ray is currently sitting 11th in the points standings as he looks for his first career victory in the class.
E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service eliminations begin Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
