Hord secures No.1 qualifying position at Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals
Rick Hord remained atop of the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals following the second session of qualifying for the class. The teams only had one qualifying session during the day due to inclement weather in the area. This weekend’s Pro Mod racing, presented by J&A Service, is the seventh of 12 events this season.
Hord ran a 5.754-second pass at 254.76 mph during Friday’s lone qualifying session in his ’16 Corvette.
“We were not sure the run would stick (today),” Hord stated. “We were prepared to go another round tonight but the weather just didn’t hold up.”
He will face off against Troy Coughlin Sr. on Sunday morning.
Mike Castellana qualified second as he prepares to go against Danny Rowe during the first round of eliminations.
E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series eliminations begin at approximately 9:15 a.m. Sunday at Summit Motorsports Park
