Stevenson leads Friday field at NHRA Toyota Nationals
Dan Stevenson was the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series top qualifier on Friday during the series portion of the NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This weekend’s Pro Mod racing is presented by Real Pro Mod Association which is the season ending event for the category.
Stevenson in his ’16 Camaro raced to an impressive time of 5.804-seconds at 252.66 mph during the second qualifying session.
“I feel pretty darn good right about now,” said Stevenson. “We’ve worked really hard and it’s finally coming together.”
Points leader Troy Coughlin qualified fourth with a run of 5.857 at 254.47 and Mike Castellana, who trails Coughlin in points, is one spot ahead in qualifying with his run of 5.839 at 247.88.
Mike Bowman made the fastest run in Pro Mod history in the first qualifying session. His pass of 6.015 seconds at 259.95 mph broke the previous record of 259.31 mph set by Troy Coughlin in Norwalk.
NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Series qualifying continues Saturday at 3 p.m. at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
