The 2017 NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series season comes to a thrilling close at the NHRA Toyota Nationals where the Real Pro Mod Association (RPM) has been named presenting sponsor for the Pro Mod portion of the event. This is the 12th and final event of the season with the points championship in the balance.

Troy Coughlin, a two-time series champion, leads the battle by 26 points over Mike Castellana who is in pursuit of his first crown. Coughlin has two wins on the season, his last coming at the most recent event in St. Louis. Castellana also has two wins during the year with back-to-back victories at Charlotte, N.C. and Topeka, Kan.

“With the tight racing action this year, it is only fitting the championship battle comes to the final race of the year,” said Brad Gerber, NHRA vice president and chief development officer. “The yearlong support from the Real Pro Mod Association and their dedication to the category has been second to none.”

The RPM Association was created by Pro Mod team owners and drivers to preserve and promote the future of the category. Pro Mods are frequently touted as the fuel altereds of the 21st century. RPM is committed to securing sponsorship to the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series, providing input to NHRA on rule changes to achieve parity between the different power adder combinations, promoting diversity within the class to invite spectator interest and involvement, as well as maintaining the most exciting and competitive door-to-door racing on the planet.

“Coming to the final event is always bittersweet as it marks the end of the fantastic season,” said John Waldie, board member of the RPM Association. “We look forward to crowning a deserving champion at Las Vegas and ending the successful season.”

The 2017 NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series is showcased in a 12-race schedule that includes stops at NHRA national events across the country. All 12 races during the 2017 season will air on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) and FOX Sports 2 (FS2).
