NHRA Today: Holbrook's history-making Mustang Stocker
On Saturday morning of the recent Dodge NHRA Nationals, Chris Holbrook made the quickest and fastest pass in NHRA Stock eliminator history. He joined NHRA’s Lewis Bloom via Skype in the Wally Parks NHRA Studio to talk about the history-making run.
Holbrook, who previously had made the quickest pass in Stock eliminator history, 8.23, during his victory in the School of Automotive Machinists & Technology NHRA Factory Stock Showdown at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, bettered that mark by more than a tenth with his opening pass of 8.11 at Maple Grove Raceway behind the wheel of his Varsity Ford Cobra Jet.
Holbrook, whose speed on his Indy pass was 165.17 mph, just shy of the mark set by rival David Barton, who drove Gary Wolkwitz’s COPO Camaro to a speed of 165.58 earlier this season in Englishtown, claimed that mantle too on his 8.11 pass with a dizzying speed of 167.97.
