Get to know the stars of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series a little better with this fun feature from NHRA National Dragster magazine that features fun, off-the-wall questions not asked in regular interviews with the drivers. In this edition, Scotty Pollacheck reveals his best school subject, favorite vacation spot, and more.

If you could compete against any one driver from the past in a big final round, who would it be?
John Myers. I think he was always just a pure, natural rider, kind of like how everybody talks about Jeggie [Jeg Coughlin Jr.] now. That’s kind of how I remember John being.

Who has been the biggest influence on your life?
I’d probably have to say my mom. We were just always really close when I was growing up, and I was kind of like her helper. We were just always close from an early age, and she would just always involve me in everything and kind of advise me and teach me and I guess get me ready for adulthood, basically.

What was your best subject in school?
Math. I think I was just always intrigued by numbers, and so it was just one of those things where I had an interest in it so I guess I would spend more time and pursue it more than, say, English.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
We went to Antigua a couple of years ago, and that was pretty phenomenal. We actually got married there, and we went with a bunch of friends, so it was just like the perfect deal.

Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?
“Sugar Ray” Leonard. It was at a boxing event, and he was kind of like the main draw. He was retired already, but he was there.
