Down on the (alligator) farm with Jerry Savoie
NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Jerry Savoie might have one of the more unusual occupations when he’s not riding his successful White Alligator Racing Suzuki on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour.
Savoie is an alligator farmer in his native Louisiana, raising alligators and helping to ensure the species' survival. A typical workweek for Savoie will find him in either a helicopter spotting nests or an airboat rescuing eggs and returning a good percentage of the alligators to their natural environment.
Savoie, a four-time NHRA national event winner, invited NHRA’s Amanda Busick down for a visit, where she got a hands-on look at Savoie’s Alligator Farm in Cut Off, La.
