David Parks, son of NHRA founder, dies
David Parks, the youngest son of NHRA founder Wally Parks, passed away suddenly Jan. 8 at his home in Corona Del Mar, Calif. He was 63.
Parks was a member of the Lakers car club of the Southern California Timing Association and held many records in the 200 MPH Club at Bonneville, El Mirage, and Muroc.
Parks is survived by his wife, Barbara Coddington Parks; daughters Mari Parks Bell and Tamara Parks; granddaughters Tesla and Annalee Bell, brother Richard Parks; nephews Scott, David, and Michael Parks; three grandnephews and four grandnieces.
Services will be held on Saturday, Jan.16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, 2300 Bonita Canyon Road, Newport Beach, CA.
