A veteran crew chief, Rahn Tobler has been working full time in NHRA Drag Racing for more than 40 years, working for a variety of drivers ranging from Shirley Muldowney to current shoe Ron Capps. Tobler’s long and distinguished résumé includes numerous wins and series championships in both nitro categories. Among his accomplishments, Tobler tuned icon Muldowney to 13 wins and three Top Fuel championships in the early 1980s. Tobler also called the shots during Cruz Pedregon’s 2008 championship season in Funny Car.

This is the seventh season in which Tobler has worked for Don Schumacher Racing. Tobler began his stint at DSR working with Jack Beckman, whom he tuned to a No. 2 finish in 2011, before moving over to the NAPA-backed car driven by Capps in early 2012. The Tobler-Capps pairing has produced 13 victories, including winning this year’s season opener in Pomona, seven No. 1 starts, and top-10 points finishes each year, including a high of second in 2012.
