Bidding opens for DSR charity auction items
The 11th annual Don Schumacher Racing Open House presented by Pennzoil to benefit Riley Hospital for Children. Sept. 2, will feature its most expansive and unique silent auction thanks to friends of DSR and the NHRA drag racing community.
Fans can go on-line now at https://dsr16.auction-bid.org to view all items in the silent auction and begin bidding. Bids must be submitted by 2:30 p.m. (ET) Friday via computer or cell phone thanks to technology provided by GiveSmart.com.
And of course, fans can go “old school” and submit bids in person during the Open House from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Pennzoil will provide special Open House T-shirts to the first 500 guests attending the free, public event at1681 E. Northfield Drive, Brownsburg, Ind., located about two miles from the site of the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals.
In addition to the silent auction, visitors to the free event can enjoy one of Indiana’s biggest indoor car shows presented by the Indy Hi-Winders Car Club, a Cacklefest, and autograph session with all eight DSR drivers and team owner Don Schumacher.
Bid on a piece of NHRA and racing history from more than 80 unique items – with more added daily – ranging from unique wines, restaurant gift certificates, NASCAR and IndyCar tickets, Carlyle and Matco tools, TIG welder and welder’s helmet and Schumacher Electric Corp chargers and Red Fuel Powered by Schumacher personal chargers.
The Open House auction offers a record number of race-related, items with most autographed, including:
- A Scott Kalitta/DHL helmet
- Unique poster autographed by NAPA Auto Parts Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi;
- Drivers’ firesuits from Terry Chandler’s Make-A-Wish and Riley Hospital teams along with one donated by Tim Wilkerson
- Race-proven body and car parts from windshields, body panels, engine blocks, along with a variety of collectible items from NHRA and NASCAR Cup teams (Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne and Joey Logano);
- Crew shirts from DSR drivers, Jeg Coughlin Jr., a Kalitta Motorsports package signed by Connie Kalitta and J.R. Todd
