Amalie Motor Oil Co. has agreed to a multiyear extension of its title-rights sponsorship of the prestigious NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway. This year’s Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals is scheduled for March 17-20 and is the third event on the 24-race 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule.

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with Amalie Motor Oil at this tradition-rich event,” said Brad Gerber, NHRA vice president of sales and chief development officer. “Amalie Motor Oil has been actively involved in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series with its association with Terry McMillen and his Xtermigator Top Fuel dragster. The continuation of its involvement with the NHRA and the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals will build upon past successes and further its reach in the series.”

As title-rights sponsor, Amalie Motor Oil will conduct marketing activities, including themed advertising and promotions, in the Gainesville marketplace. The company will also have a presence on-site at the event, including signage and display space, as well as in the race broadcast on FOX Sports 1.

“The Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals is annually one of the most anticipated events on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series calendar,” said Dennis Madden, Amalie Motor Oil senior vice president, global sales and marketing. “This extension with the event affords Amalie Motor Oil the opportunity to strengthen our commitment to the sport of drag racing and create new programs to further our involvement with Terry McMillen’s team.”

One of NHRA’s largest events, the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals serves as the East Coast opener for the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, featuring Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and the season opener for Pro Stock Motorcycle. The historic event and venue have been the stage for some of NHRA’s most memorable moments, none more significant than the first 300-mph pass, made by legendary NHRA driver Kenny Bernstein in 1992.
