NHRA’s successful 2017 season and recent growth is reflected in the success of the annual Performance Racing Industry show in Indianapolis.

The NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Conference Finals will return to familiar surroundings for the 2018 season as the Western Conference Finals will take place at Osage Tulsa Raceway Park in Tulsa, Okla., and the Eastern Conference Finals will be held at Bristol Dragway in Tennessee.

Fans can now purchase tickets for the second race of the NHRA Drag Racing season, the NHRA Arizona Nationals. The duel in the desert is set for Feb. 23-25 at Wild Horse Motorsports Park just outside Phoenix.

Scott Palmer will make another full-season push under the CatSpot Litter colors in 2018, while Dom Lagana will race 6-10 times in the Nitro Ninja dragster with the same sponsor.

Richie Crampton will pilot the Kalitta Air Top Fuel Dragster after filling in during the back half of the 2017 campaign.

E3 Spark Plugs has renewed its sponsorship agreement with NHRA, which includes their latest decision to sponsor NHRA’s Pro Mod series. As part of this multi-year agreement, E3 Spark Plugs is designated as the “Official Ignition Products of NHRA.”

In a history-making decision made at the request of the teams, NHRA will allow Pro Stock racers to run any currently approved engine combination in any currently approved body, regardless of the manufacturer, during the 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

Just a month after clinching his third Pro Mod world championship, Troy Coughlin Sr. has announced his retirement from racing in the series. 

Ed Eaton, one of NHRA’s original division directors, died Nov. 27. Eaton was one of NHRA founder Wally Parks’ hand-picked regional supervisors in 1959, assigned to the Northeast region.
