ZMAX Dragway, home of the upcoming NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals as well as the NHRA Carolina Nationals in the fall, turns 10 years old this May. Here’s a timeline of significant events at the famed facility.

A strong start to Jack Beckman’s 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season includes the former Funny Car world champion winning in Gainesville, a runner-up at the four-wide event in Las Vegas, a No. 1 qualifier and the points lead through five events.

Brenda Grubbs just missed a chance to become NHRA’s first female double winner, and the Collier family scored big at the NHRA SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway

Not only is Steve Torrence the defending event winner at the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals event, which returns this weekend to zMAX Dragway, but the Top Fuel standout also won the inaugural four-wide racing event in Las Vegas earlier this month.

LE Tonglet, the 2010 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion, will return to White Alligator Racing with Jerry Savoie beginning with this weekend's NKG Spark Plugs Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway.

Kalitta Motorsports and driver Richie Crampton are will welcome NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and ThorSport Racing drivers Matt Crafton and Myatt Snider to the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals. The drivers will join Crampton in participating in the SealMaster Track Walk prior to the beginning of the NHRA race action.

Mid America Dragway, located in Arkansas City, Kan., has joined NHRA’s Division 5, the West Central Division. 

After putting his name in the record books as the first NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Funny Car driver to win a four-wide event in Las Vegas, J.R. Todd now has a chance for another historic first heading to the “Bellagio of dragstrips,” zMAX Dragway. 

Brittany Force, J.R. Todd, and Matt Hartford claimed victories in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock, respectively during the NHRA SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway. Force won for the first time since her accident in Pomona while Todd remained perfect with his fourth Funny Car final. Hartford joined an exclusive club when he became just the 66th winner in the history of Pro Stock.

Jim Whiteley drove to victory on Sunday during the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service portion of the NHRA SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway.

The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series came to town this past weekend at the NHRA SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway. Brenda Grubbs, Tim Snively, Lyndon Rutland, and Koy Collier celebrated with their teams in winner’s circle.
