Mello Yello Funny Car points leader Robert Hight was cleared for competition at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals, less than two weeks after fracturing his left collarbone in a final-round crash in St. Louis. Hight had successful surgery on the break and is ready to continue his pursuit of a third championship.

Drag racing lost a pair of its early heroes over the last two weeks with the passings of legendary East Coast Top Fuel and Funny Car racer Jimmy King and versatile driver “Jet Car Bob” Smith.

In the final results from Silver Dollar Raceway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, former Lucas Oil World Champion Craig Bourgeois and reigning Super Gas World Champion John Labbous led the list of winners in the winner’s circle celebration.
