After running the table in 2020 and posting 14 straight Funny Car victories, it was shocking to see the Don Schumacher Racing team struggle to put together a win this season. Entering the Dodge//SRT NHRA Mile-High Nationals presented by Pennzoil riding an 0-for-7 streak to start the season, the reigning world champion came to the rescue when he defeated Alexis DeJoria in the final round.

There is still a lot of racing left to do in 2021, but if anyone is to keep Matt Smith from winning a fifth NHRA Camping World Pro Stock Motorcycle championship, it might be best to do it now. Smith won for the third time this year when he topped Eddie Krawiec in the final round of the Dodge//SRT NHRA Mile-High Nationals presented by Pennzoil, backing up his most recent win in Norwalk three weeks ago.

It’s rare at any drag race when both the winner and runner-up walk away equally as excited, but that helps describe the Dodge//SRT Mile-High NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil Top Fuel final, where Steve Torrence continued his torrid pace with his fifth win in eight races this season, and Joey Haas enjoyed his best day as a Pro with an impressive runner-up finish.

Following two days of intense qualifying, NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Pros will battle it out for Wallys on the first leg of the annual Western Swing.

Friday’s opening round of under-the-lights pro qualifying presented a challenge to NHRA’s pro teams, but they’ll have two more shots today to conquer Bandimere Speedway as the fields are set for the Dodge//SRT NHRA Mile-High Nationals.

After a one-year absence, Bandimere Speedway reverberated with the sound of nitro engines as the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series returned for the Dodge//SRT Mile-High NHRA Nationals. On Friday, Steve Torrence, Matt Hagan, and Steve Johnson turned in the quickest performances in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock Motorcycle respectively.
