With 30-plus cars, and the potential for a seven-second run, history will likely be made during the SAM Tech NHRA Factory Stock Showdown season-opener in Gainesville

Jordan Vandergriff will enter this weekend’s Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals as the first driver of the Bob Vandergriff Racing Driver Development program, piloting the A/Fuel Dragster tuned and owned by Anthony Dicero of the Nitro University. 

It hasn’t been an ideal start for legendary Funny Car driver John Force, but the 16-time world champion is only focused on what is ahead at this weekend’s Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway.

The Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals will be the first of Jim Dunn Racing’s primary-sponsored races for 7-Eleven and Oberto Beef Jerky this season. The partnership also allows the race team to take part in high-profile events such as franchisee conventions. 

Kelly Clontz, who made her NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle debut last year, will run the entire schedule this season in partnership with Joe Riccardi’s San Marino Excavating team in a bid to make the Countdown to the Championship and an eye on winning the Auto Club Road to the Future Award.

With two Wally trophies and a charity challenge on the line, Leah Pritchett, the quickest woman in NHRA history will go for a three-in-one at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, competing in Top Fuel, the Factory Stock Showdown,  and the Papa John’s Charity Challenge.

After getting his first win at the NHRA Toyota Nationals, Terry McMillen hopes to get his second victory at his sponsor's race at the historic Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals.

Melanie Salemi Motorsports has renewed its marketing partnership with Strange Engineering. Salemi will race the entire NHRA E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod schedule. 

NHRA has notified drivers of a rule change regarding centerline crossing and/or the striking of timing blocks. In addition to the current centerline policy of disqualifying runs/times, additional penalties will be imposed on drivers crossing the centerline or striking the timing blocks during any qualifying or elimination round.

After being shut out in the desert, Don Schumacher Racing is favored for a sweep in the nitro categories at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals according to National Dragster's famed prognosticator, Tricky Tipster.

Defending Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Eddie Krawiec hopes to make a 200 mph pass at the historic Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, and win the race, of course.

Justin Lamb and Jody Lang have now combined to win 48 NHRA national event titles following their victories in Super Stock and Stock, respectively, at the NHRA Arizona Nationals. Lamb, the reigning Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series champ in Stock and Super Stock, won for the 19th time in his career, and Lang bagged his 29th career win.

Don Garlits joined NHRA reporter Lewis Bloom via Skype in the Wally Parks Studio delivered by Papa John’s to discuss the upcoming Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. Garlits spoke about the race, his museum and a recent experience at Gainesville Raceway with the new Dodge Demon.

Audrey Worm, who made her Top Fuel debut in the Leverich Racing dragster at last year’s Reading event, will kick off an ambitious eight-race 2018 campaign and a bid for the Auto Club Road to the Future Award at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals.

Top Fuel buddies Antron Brown and Steve Torrence will tackle a new challenge together this weekend as they team up to race in the Mint 400 off-road race in a fully factory-backed Polaris RZR.

Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School unveiled this week its new John Force Racing-built 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Alcohol Funny Car, and JFR developmental driver Austin Prock was the first to make laps in the state of the art machine at Gainesville Raceway. 

It took Steve Torrence six events to get his first race win last season, but the perennial Top Fuel championship contender is already on the scoreboard this year after his win in Phoenix, and assistant crew chief Bobby Lagana Jr. says the team is pumped up for the year ahead.
