Phoenix Funny Car Friday results: Q1

Matt Hagan and crew chief Dickie Venables looked like geniuses in the first qualifying session, where Funny Cars were the first machines to hit the track after a lengthy rain delay. The Sandvik Coromant Dodge blasted to a 3.942 to lead the session.

Matt Hagan and crew chief Dickie Venables looked like geniuses in the first qualifying session, where Funny Cars were the first machines to hit the cool track after a lengthy rain delay. The Mopar machine blasted to a 3.942 to lead the session.

A number of cars experienced either tire shake or tire smoke on the launch,

Blake Alexander’s first pass ended before it began as the car faltered right out of the water box, the result of a wiring issue that triggered the safety system. Seventeen cars are on the grounds. Attempting to make the field.
