Rookie Report Card after Chicago
It was a relatively quiet weekend for the 2017 rookie class during the 20th annual Fallen Patriots NHRA Route 66 Nationals presented by K&N Filters at Route 66 Raceway near Chicago, race 13 of 24 events (six of 16 for Pro Stock Motorcycle) on the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule. Only Pro Stock runner Tanner Gray, the leading candidate for this year's Auto Club Road to the Future Award, was able to tally a round-win during competition. Top Fuel driver Troy Coughlin Jr., Funny Car's Jonnie Lindberg, and Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Joey Gladstone all fell in the opening round in their respective categories. Top Fuel racer Shawn Reed sat this event out.
