Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

1. ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to legal permanent U.S. residents residing in the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia who are at least the age of majority in his/her state of residence (nineteen (19) in Alabama and Nebraska, twenty-one (21) in Mississippi and eighteen (18) in all other states) at the time of entry (the “Contestant”). Contestants who are selected as the potential grand prize winner (the “Grand Prize Winner”) must have a unique, personal and valid social security number for Sponsor (defined below) to report the tax liability associated with acceptance of the grand prize (the “Grand Prize”).  Valid social security numbers will be determined by Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) requirements as further defined in the “PRIZE CLAIMS” section of these Official Rules.  Employees and non-employee workers (non-employee worker is defined as  “a person who performs services for a company, but is not considered an employee of the company”) of the National Hot Rod Association (“NHRA” or “Sponsor”), and each of NHRA’s parent companies, divisions, affiliates, sponsors, contractors, subsidiaries, distributors, sales representatives, retailers, legal counsel, advertising, public relations, promotional, fulfillment and marketing agencies, and any others engaged in the development, production, execution or distribution of this Contest including, but not limited to the National Sweepstakes Company, LLC (the “Independent Administrator”), and the entities supplying the prizes (collectively, the “Contest Entities”) and members of their immediate family members (spouse, partner, parents, legal guardians, children, and siblings, regardless of where they live) or persons living in same household of each of such individuals (whether related or not) are not eligible to participate. Contest is void in Puerto Rico, U.S. territories and possessions located outside of the United States and the District of Columbia, and where restricted or prohibited by law.

2. CONTEST PERIOD: Contest begins at 12:00:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on May 31, 2019 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on July 19, 2019 (“Contest Period”). The Website (defined below) will be the official timekeeper of the Contest.

3. TO ENTER:  Visit www.nhra.com (the “Website”) during the Contest Period and click on the “Enter Now” button to submit a photo or video that showcases your favorite memory of the NHRA Chevrolet Performance US Nationals Event at any time in the Event’s history (the “Submission”).  Your favorite memory can be while you were watching (in person or on TV) or attending the event, but attendance at the event is not required in order to enter. Contestant must complete the online entry form, in its entirety, and upload a photo or video and click “Submit” to complete a Submission.  Photos should be not more than 20mb in size and in a .jpg or .png format.  Videos must not exceed 60 seconds in length and must be in a .mov or .mp4 format.

Limit of one (1) Submission per Contestant.  Contestant represents and warrants that the Submission: (a) is complete, true and correct to the best of Contestant’s knowledge and belief; (b) is the original work of the Contestant; and (c) has not previously won a contest or other promotion.  All Submissions must be received by 11:59:59 p.m. ET on July 19, 2019.  Late Submissions or Submissions sent via any other method than those stated above will not be accepted. Any attempt by a Contestant to enter more than one (1) Submission by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, and/or any other methods, will void all of that Contestant’s Submissions and that Contestant may be disqualified from the Contest.   

In exchange for the opportunity to participate in this Contest, each Contestant assigns all right, title and interest in and to the Submission, including any photos and any copyrights and moral rights therein, to Sponsors.  Each Contestant acknowledges and agrees that, once submitted and assigned, the Contestant has no further rights to the Submission, including photos, and grants to the Sponsors the perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide, and irrevocable right to use, edit, alter, copy, reproduce, disclose, display, publish, prepare derivative works from, perform, distribute, exhibit, broadcast, or otherwise exploit the entry, including photos, in whole or in part, in connection with the Contest, in any form, media or technology now known or hereafter developed, including, but not limited to, broadcast and cable television, radio, mobile transmission, and the Internet, for any purpose whatsoever, including, but not limited to, advertising, promotion, entertainment and commercial purposes, without any payment to, or further authorization by, the Contestant. 

Submissions will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the Website account from which the Submission is submitted at the time of entry. Potential Grand Prize Winner may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the account associated with the winning Submission and/or an eligible Contestant.

Submission Requirements/Restrictions: Submissions (a) containing obscene, lewd,  crude, vulgar, profane, defamatory or inappropriate text, including acts of violence or acts that appear to cause harm; (b) containing other  offensive  content  and/or  any content  that is explicit, graphic or otherwise indecent or that is or could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable, or offensive; (c) that are derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group; (d) promoting alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms or weapons, activities that appear unsafe or dangerous or a particular political agenda or message; (e)  containing and displaying third-party brands, or any materials that violate or infringe (or may infringe) any copyright (including, without limitation, music or artistic work), trademark, logo, or other mark that identifies a brand, entity or other proprietary right of any person living or deceased, including but not limited to rights of privacy or publicity or portrayal in a false light; or (f) otherwise violate these Official Rules, as determined by Sponsor/Independent Administrator, in their sole discretion, shall be disqualified from the Contest. Without limiting the foregoing, Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify a Submission it feels is inappropriate in any way.

To the best of Contestant’s knowledge and belief, its Submission is truthful.  Contestant further agrees and warrants that he/she shall not knowingly enter any Submission that (a) is false, inaccurate, or misleading; (b) violates any law, statute, ordinance, or regulation (including, but not limited to, those governing export control, consumer protection, unfair competition, anti-discrimination, or false advertising); and (c) is or may reasonably be  considered defamatory, libelous, hateful, racially or religiously biased or offensive, unlawfully threatening or unlawfully harassing to any individual, partnership, or corporation.

Should any Submission violate these restrictions, such Submission will be disqualified and will not be eligible to win. In such event, Sponsor further reserves the right to take any necessary actions so as to protect their respective legal rights. 

Additional Conditions: Submissions must not have been previously published, must not be awaiting publication, and may not be submitted for publication consideration during the Contest. Submission must be in English.

Submissions not meeting the requirements as set forth in these Official Rules as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will not be eligible for judging and will be disqualified.   

By participating, Contestant agrees that their Submission may be shared on social media sites or other websites by the Sponsor. However, such posting of a Submission does not constitute any representation or guarantee by Sponsor that any Submission will be selected as a Grand Prize Winner in the Contest; see below for an explanation of the evaluation of Submissions and the procedure by which the Grand Prize Winner will be selected pursuant to this Contest.

By entering a Submission, Contestant grants Sponsor and its affiliates worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, unconditional, and fully paid-up rights to  publicly perform, display, broadcast, or transmit the Submission, in whole or in part, for promotion and marketing purposes worldwide in any and all forms of media, whether now known or hereafter devised, and to distribute (directly or indirectly through multiple tiers) the Submission to Sponsor’s  affiliates, its marketing agencies, and to third parties for these purposes. Without limiting the foregoing, each Contestant consents to have the Contestant’s Submission made available for public viewing and/or comment on the Internet.

THE CONTENT OF THE SUBMISSION REPRESENTS THE VIEWS AND OPINIONS OF SOLELY THE CONTESTANT WHO HAS PROVIDED THE SUBMISSION AND DOES NOT REFLECT THE VIEWS AND/OR OPINIONS OF THE SPONSOR IN ANY MANNER. SPONSOR DISCLAIMS ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR SCREENING, MONITORING OR REVIEWING SUBMISSIONS PRIOR TO POSTING OF SAME. SPONSOR MAY EDIT SUBMISSIONS PRIOR TO POSTING THEM ON ANY WEBSITE OR ELSEWHERE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CONTEST, BUT WILL BE SEEKING THE APPROVAL OF THE RESPECTIVE CONTESTANT PRIOR TO EFFECTING SUCH EDITING AND/OR POSTING.

4. JUDGING:  All Submissions will be judged by Sponsor or Sponsor’s designee(s) for compliance with these Official Rules (including the Submission requirements).  Thereafter, the judges will “score” each of the Submissions then deemed eligible, based on the following criteria:

 

  • Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals Integration
  • Historical context in regards to NHRA
  • NHRA integration

 

Sponsor and Contest Entities are not responsible for the quality of any photos or videos submitted.

5. PRIZES:

Grand Prize: Grand Prize winner will be awarded a trip for two (2) to the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals on August 31, 2019 (the “Grand Prize”).  The Grand Prize is inclusive of: i) round-trip coach-class air transportation to/from the Grand Prize Winner’s legal residence within the U.S. to/from a major commercial airport nearest a major airport in Indianapolis, IN for Grand Prize Winner and one (1) guest, ii) two (2) nights hotel accommodations (one (1) room, double occupancy) to be determined by Sponsor, iii) ground transportation to/from the hotel and event, and iv) two (2) passes to the Chevrolet Performance US Nationals, $200 in food & beverage vouchers.  The Grand Prize has an approximate retail value (“ARV”) of $3,000. 

Grand Prize Winner must travel from August 29 to September 2, 2019.  If the Grand Prize Winner is unable to travel on these dates, Grand Prize Winner forfeits his/her rights to the Grand Prize and no compensation will be awarded.  Contestants must be 18 or older to apply.

Tickets, accommodations, certificates if any, are subject to the terms and conditions of issuer and will not be replaced by Sponsor if lost, stolen, misplaced, damaged or destroyed. Grand Prize ARV may vary, depending on the point, date and time of departure. Any difference between ARV and actual value will not be awarded as cash or otherwise.  Grand Prize must be accepted as a whole, or will be forfeited in its entirety. All travel arrangements must be made through the Sponsor or a travel agent or entity selected by Sponsor. Grand Prize Winner will be responsible for all any additional transportation, excursions, tips or gratuities, fuel, parking, beverages, telephone calls, overages, baggage fees, extras and any other incidental costs or expenses not specifically stated herein as being included.  Specific air carrier(s) and other trip specifics are selected at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.  All travel is subject to availability; blackout dates and other restrictions may apply. Travel must originate and end at the same major gateway airport.  Grand Prize Winner and guest must travel together on the same itinerary.  Grand Prize Winner and guest will be required to obtain and maintain all insurance (including health, liability and any other insurance). Grand Prize Winner acknowledges and agrees that the Contest Entities are not providers/carriers of transportation, or insurance providers. No changes will be made to travel details once any element(s) of the travel arrangements have been booked.  No frequent flier miles will be earned on any element of Grand Prize travel.  Grand Prize conditions may be added or modified by Sponsor or its designee.  Winner and guest must comply with all hotel check-in requirements, including, but not limited to, the presentation of a valid major credit card.  Contest Entities are not responsible for any changes of any element of Grand Prize, nor are they liable for any expenses incurred as a consequence of flight/event changes, cancellation or delays. Travel is subject to capacity controls, availability, and certain other restrictions, which may include a Saturday night stay, all of which are subject to change. Any unclaimed and/or unused element of the Grand Prize, or any element thereof, will remain the property of Sponsor or its designee.  A Grand Prize Winner later found ineligible or non-compliant will be immediately required to return and forfeit any Grand Prize awarded. In the event Grand Prize Winner and/or guest engage(s) in behavior that, as determined by Sponsor (or its designee) in their absolute discretion, is obnoxious or threatening, dangerous, illegal or that is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, or may cause harm, property damage or any other loss, Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the trip early, in whole or in part, and to send the Grand Prize Winner (and guest) home with no further compensation. 

First Prize: One (1) First Prize winner will receive a 2019 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Champions jacket.  The ARV of the First Prize is $1,000.  Total ARV of the First Prize is $1,000.

Second Prize: Two (2) Second Prize winners will receive a bucket of Lucas Oil Products including Slick Mist Trio-Kit, Fuel Treatment, Deep Clean Fuel System Cleaner, Power Steering Fluid and various stickers, lanyards and keychains  Each Second Prize has an ARV of $80.  Total ARV of all Second Prizes is $160.

Third Prize: Five (5) Third prize winners will win an NHRA.tv subscription. Each Third Prize has an ARV of $119.99.  Total ARV of all Third Prizes is $599.95.

Total ARV of all prizes is $4,759.95.

PRIZE RESTRICTIONS:  Limit of one (1) prize per Contestant.  No cash equivalent or substitution of prizes is offered, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. No transfer of prizes is permitted, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. If a prize, or any portion thereof, cannot be awarded for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize with another prize of equal or greater value.  All federal, state and local taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the prize winner. Products or any other element received as a prize may not be resold, auctioned, bartered, or placed into any other unauthorized channels of distribution. Any prize pictured in advertising or promotional materials is for illustrative purposes only and may not be the actual prize awarded.

7. GRAND PRIZE WINNER NOTIFICATION: Grand Prize Winner will be notified by email.  Except where prohibited, the potential Grand Prize Winner must sign and return by the date stated within the notification, an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability/Publicity Release, travel companion waiver and an IRS W-9 Form and perhaps other documents in connection with the Grand Prize (the “Winner’s Documents”) in order to claim the Grand Prize. If the potential Grand Prize Winner is unable to provide the Winner’s Documents within the time and date indicated, then that Grand Prize Winner may, at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, forfeit his/her right to the Grand Prize and an alternate Grand Prize Winner will be selected based on the Contestant having the Submission with the next highest total score.

The value associated with the Grand Prize may be taxable as income and the Grand Prize Winner is solely responsible for any taxes, including, but not limited to, all applicable federal, state and local taxes that become due with respect to the value of the Grand Prize. The Sponsor, or a third party acting on its behalf, may be required to report the value of the Grand Prize to the Internal Revenue Service in the year the Grand Prize is received by the Grand Prize Winner; and, in such case, the value of the Grand Prize will be reported to the Grand Prize Winner and the Internal Revenue Service in the form of a Form 1099 and/or other applicable tax forms.


8. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE: No liability or responsibility is assumed by Sponsor or Contest Entities resulting from Contestant’s participation in or attempt to participate in the Contest or ability or inability to upload or download any information in connection with the Contest. No responsibility or liability is assumed by the Sponsor or the Contest Entities for technical problems or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences which may affect the operation of the Contest: Hardware or software errors; faulty- computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic or Internet connectivity or other online or network communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet providers, servers, hosts or other providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any online transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted transmissions; inaccessibility of the Websites in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestion on the Internet or Websites; unauthorized human or non-human intervention of the operation of the Contest, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, or worms; or destruction of any aspect of the Contest, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an email account used in connection with the Contest. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on any of the Websites. Use of Websites is at user’s own risk. Sponsor and Contest Entities are not responsible for any personal injury or property damage or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user's or any other person's computer equipment resulting from participation in the Contest. All Submisstions become the sole property of the Sponsor, and will not be acknowledged or returned.

9. RELEASE OF LIABILITY: By participating in the Contest, Contestants release Contest Entities (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, damages or liabilities arising from or relating to such Contestant’s participation in the Contest. By accepting a prize, recipient (a) agrees that the Released Parties, participating retailers, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by prize winner against, any liability for injuries, losses or damages of any kind to persons or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in the Contest; from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of prize and (b) grants (and agrees to confirm grant in writing promptly upon request) to Sponsor and those acting under Sponsor’s authority the right to the use of his/her name, photograph, likeness, voice, image, statements and biographical information, at any time or times, for advertising, trade, publicity and promotional purposes in any media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide, including the Internet without review, notification or approval, and additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. Sponsor is not liable in the event that any portion of the Contest is canceled due to weather, fire, strike, acts of war or terrorism, or any other condition beyond their control (a “Force Majeure Event”).

10.  PRIVACY:  If Contestant opts in to receive information from NHRA or its promotional partners then Sponsor will be collecting personal data about Contestants via the Website in accordance with its privacy policy, http://www.nhra.com/privacy-policy By participating in the Contest, Contestants hereby agree to Sponsor's collection and usage of their personal information and acknowledge that they have read and accepted the privacy policies.

11. GENERAL CONDITIONS:  GENERAL: By participating, Contestants agree:  [a]  to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules and to waive any right to claim any ambiguity or error therein or in the Contest itself, and to be bound by all decisions of Sponsor and Independent Administrator which shall be final and binding in all respects relating to the Contest, including without limitation the interpretation of these Official Rules; [b]  to release, discharge and hold harmless Sponsor, its franchisees, licensees, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising agencies, promotional agencies and suppliers and any other individual or company (including the Independent Administrator) involved in the development or execution of the Contest, the Released Parties from any and all injuries, liability, illness, losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind including liability for personal injury or death that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from such Contestant’s participation in the Contest and/or his/her acceptance, receipt, possession, use or misuse of a prize or any portion thereof (including any travel related thereto); and [c] to indemnify the Released Parties from any and all liability resulting or arising from the Contest and to hereby acknowledge that Released Parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to a prize, including express warranties provided exclusively by prize supplier that are sent along with the prize (if applicable).  Failures to comply with these conditions may result in disqualification from the Contest at Sponsor’s sole discretion.  Submissions which contain false information, are incomplete, inaccurate or are otherwise forged, defective, or made outside authorized channels, shall be void.  Sponsor, its licensees, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising agencies, promotional agencies and suppliers and any other individual or company involved in the development or execution of the Contest (including the Independent Administrator) and their respective directors, officers, shareholders, agents, representatives, and employees are not responsible and shall not be liable for; [a] electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction; [b] unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials; [c] technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions; [d]  late, lost, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete, or illegible Submissions; [e] limitations of any kind or inaccurate transmissions of or failure to receive information by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or any combination thereof (if applicable); or [f]  any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Sponsor that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted. Sponsor may prohibit a Contestant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said Contestant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair playing practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other Contestants, Sponsor or other Contest Entities. If for any reason this Contest is not able to be conducted as planned, including, but not limited to reason of infection by computer virus, technical failures, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, then Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest and judge those Submissions received up to the cancellation/suspension date. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY PERSON TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY’S FEES) FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.  SPONSOR'S FAILURE TO ENFORCE ANY TERM OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES SHALL NOT CONSTITUTE A WAIVER OF THESE PROVISIONS.  Submission information becomes property of Sponsor.  All federal, state and local regulations apply.

12. WINNER’S LIST/RULE REQUEST: To receive a copy of the prize winner’s list, send a self-addressed, stamped business-size (#10) envelope postmarked August 19, 2019 to: P.O. Box 10505, Rochester, NY 14610. Please specify “Winner List.” You may also view the full Official Rules at the Website during the Contest Period.

13. INDEPENDENT ADMINISTRATOR: This Contest is being administered by National Sweepstakes Company, LLC, 80 Rockwood Place, Ste 104, Rochester, NY 14610.

14. SPONSOR:  This Contest is being sponsored by National Hot Rod Association, 2035 Financial Way, Glendora, CA  91741.

 

This Contest shall not be published without the written permission of the Sponsor.
