Some folks really take the adage “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” to heart. Tim Wilkerson and Mike Neff were each successful in jumping a significant hurdle at Gateway Int’l Raceway. Rod Fuller won in his first final of the season, Kurt Johnson scored for the first time in more than a year, and Andrew Hines strengthened his grip on the points lead while becoming the first Pro Stock Motorcycle rider to make 16 consecutive six-second passes.

Oh, yeah. And some guy named John Force took his record 1,000th Funny Car round-win. (page 14)
