The iconic Hot Wheels haulers and ‘Cuda and Duster Funny Cars raced by legendary drag racers Don "the Snake" Prudhomme and Tom "the Mongoose" McEwen will be on display together for the first time outside of California in 40 years. The haulers and Funny Cars will be showcased during the inaugural Hot August Nights Auction presented by Barrett-Jackson at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Nevada Aug. 8-10. Following the Reno-Tahoe event, the cars will go on a nationwide tour before being displayed at the 6th annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction and ultimately crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale (Ariz.) in January 2014.

The producers of the upcoming Snake & Mongoose film will also host a star-studded, red-carpet premiere of the monumental movie Aug. 9 at the Century Park Lane in Reno, and the legends themselves are expected to attend. On Aug. 8, Hot August Nights, Barrett-Jackson, and Snake & Mongoose will present a concert with Capitol Records’ Jack Dempsey, whose music is featured in the feature film.

"This is truly an epic event to have partnered with Barrett-Jackson and Don Prudhomme, combined with the weeklong Hot August Nights activities, to promote the first Hollywood movie about drag racing legends since 1983,” said Tony Marini, executive director of Hot August Nights. “For the hundreds of thousands of car enthusiasts who come to Reno for this festival, they are sure in for a once-in-a-lifetime treat in which they get to witness these iconic cars firsthand."

After the Reno stop, the Hot Wheels haulers and Funny Cars will head for Detroit, where they will be unveiled in the parking lot of the Palladium 12-Downtown Aug. 13-18 in conjunction with the Detroit Woodward Dream Cruise. From there, they will go to Indianapolis to be displayed in conjunction with a benefit screening for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Aug. 29 before being displayed on the grounds of Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis during the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals Aug. 30-Sept. 2.

The haulers and cars will then move to Las Vegas, where they will be displayed at the 6th annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Sept. 26-28.

The final scheduled stop for these authentic cars and haulers is in Scottsdale in January 2014, where they will be auctioned off during the 43rd annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in front of a worldwide stage.
